This car has been in previously for tappet noise, but Cricklewood put off the Owner until they found all the clearance had been used up in the setting of the tap rockers. The bottom tappets have been dissembled, and the first two blocks, i.e. 8 tappets, were badly worn, and there was one in the third block and two in the fourth block. The remaining tappets in five and six blocks were in a good condition. The camshaft cams were not damaged to any extent, and were definitely in a condition to refit new tappets without any possibility of causing further scoring. I therefore instructed that only 11 new tappets were to be fitted. The camshaft gully was full of oil. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
