R.R. 2356 (to T.) (S.H. 988. 22/2/21.) Bm. 5988/2. X4150 R.{Sir Henry Royce} from BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c.c. CJ. c.c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY5-P22.6.21. TORQUE TUBE AND PROPELLER SHAFT. RE THRUST BEARINGS. With reference to the trouble on the above job, I am sending you herewith a thrust bearing which was taken from chassis 70-EE. There were no particulars of any further damage, except that Cricklewood complained that the thrust bearing was soft. It will be noted that the stationary thrust has been out of line, either due to the load on the shaft or from faulty machining. The settlement of this trouble is an urgent matter, and I thought possibly a bearing in the exact condition it came from a service chassis would be of interest. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
