GOSHAWK-11.
10,000 MILES TRIALS CARS.

We have now received instructions from BJ. that they do not now require the Amateur Car 7-Goshawk-11 which, as a matter of fact, at the Coachbuilders completing for the Sales Dept. for the promised date. We are to keep this car at the Works as a Works Experimental Car.

As soon as it is settled the actual type of car which is to be supplied for the early productions, then 3-Goshawk-11 car (limousine body) should be modernised and made exactly as the first proposed production model so that it could be used for the Amateur driven 10,000 miles test car.

We do not think it will be practicable, at this stage, to modernise 3-Goshawk-11 especially in view of the present "lock-out", as it will require new frame, engine, gear box, rear axle etc., but at the same time, I certainly think that we shall be in a position when we have once established the standar model for the first "productions", for us to supply one of the four modern cars i.e. 4/5/6 or 7-Goshawk-11 to be used for this 10,000 miles Amateur test. We trust this will be done when H7. of 6-G.II arrive at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.
I thought the above would interest you as it is the outcome of your early report from Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence dealing with this matter.

There has been no instructions altering the fact that 5-Goshawk-11 (Express car) should continue its run. At any rate, until we are in a position to replace it with a car which has been modernised and the faults which are complained of overcome. In any case, as we feel at present, there is nothing serious to stop this and we certainly think the test should continue as at present it may be possible for us to supply and fix on this car improvements which could be affected while the car is in France.

We would like to have given R.W. wheels a good run and for R.{Sir Henry Royce} to have seen them but it is too late to change now.
