6-GOSHAWK-11.

We have today received your telegram as follows:-

"SIX GOSHAWK SHOULD BE SENT HERE IF MODERN AS FOUR GOSHAWK PREFERABLE WITH PLAIN THRUST TO STEERING BRING CONE TYPE JET RESTRICTORS ALSO SPARE THROATS FROM POINT SEVEN TO SIX FIFTY SPARE AIR VALVE WITH NO AIR SLOTS WIRE WHEN CAR WILL CROSS HIVES-ROYCE".

To which we have replied as follows:-

"SIX GOSHAWK CAR CROSSING MONDAY WITH SPARES AS REQUESTED WILL INFORM HALDENCY TO TAKE LK{L. King} CANADEL HALDENBY APPEARS CONFIRM LEVERS NOT BENT REPORTING TODAY, PLATFORD".

We are fixing this car up with the plain thrust bearing in the steering column. We have also fixed up the steering connection with buffer springs at each end, the same as the 40/50. We propose to send out the car with the plain thrust and most suitable tube and to send with the car as spares the remaining tube and the standard steering thrust bearing so that they can be tried out while in France.

We have not yet been able to test this car with these new parts fitted but will wire you in case we find the car is definitely unsatisfactory with these fittings fixed.

We are also fixing to this car gaiters for the springs and stockings for the shackles also some sample covers for the steering and shock absorber joints. We do not consider these covers "the last word" and we are having other samples made to fix on 7-Goshawk-11 (Amateur Car) and on other cars at the works. We are making an attempt to entirely enclose the ball end joints and not just the end of the steering tube only, as on 6-Goshawk-11. We also propose to send out similar gaiters and covers etc. when we feel we have obtained the most satisfactory type for 4/5-Goshawk 11.

We are also sending with this car the cone type jet restrictors, spare throats and ** air valve as requested in your telegram above.

As regards the cone type jet restrictors, in view of any definite instructions on this car, we are arranging to send to you, as far as possible, reproductions of the 40/50 type, such that they can be fitted into the Goshawk R-R Carburetter i.e., high and low speed jet restrictors. Will this be in order or have you any special desire otherwise in this respect? If so,
