Re. MOUNTING OF RADIATOR ON ENGINE PHANTOM II. A number of tests were carried out on rough roads in France to find out the value of the radiator mounted on the engine. The tests proved that under the most severe conditions, the radiator was free from any rapid movement, there were no definite knocks from the bonnet. Compared with a centrally mounted radiator, the improvement was 75%. When the dampers were tightened to give a load of 370 ins.lbs. it improved the whole front of the car making it ride steadier and with less movement of the wings. The unit pressure of the dampers would be too great for service work, but by doubling the surfaces of the dampers, the unit load would be helped. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.H. | ||
