PEREGRINE CARBURETTER & STEERING.

Derby want to lower the carburetter 1.5", which causes it to foul the steering box in the present position. They also say they would like the J.2 size air valve on the Peregrine which still further increases the foul.

To deal with this it is proposed to run the steering box into the frame side channel, and bring the spindle out through the channel some what in the style of the existing P.2, so that only the tube of the steering column passes the carburetter.

We have looked at this, and by rocking the spring over to 4.5° as suggested by R.{Sir Henry Royce}, introducing probably .250" negative camber, and slightly shortening the pendulum lever (about .5) it appears that it can be done with advantage to the geometry, as compared with the present two outstanding disadvantages.
