ROY {Sir Henry Royce} /JT2/HP25.1.29.

Further to yours EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T18.1.29 regarding the trouble encountered with Speedometer No.C.295, 800 rpm, 14/52 a.g.r..

The A.T. Speedometer Co.Ltd. have now examined this instrument, and report as follows:-

"We find that the sole reason for the "irregularities is that the Hair Spring "had received a jar or knock, or both in "transit or whilst in your hands, which "had put it over the crossing.

"In order to try to prevent this happening "at any future date, we are extending the "Crossing Piece, so as to entirely cover "the Hair Spring, and hope there will be "no further reason to complain.

"The instrument has been put right (only "taking a few minutes) and is being returned "to you today".

There will be no charge for this work.
