Phantom III Chassis - Zenith Carburetters. Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/AW3/IB28.4.38 Whilst the information furnished by the makers in their letter of the 26th inst. is useful for record purposes, we in this Department were immediately concerned with the marking (if any) of the carburetters which have been back to the Zenith Co. for reinspection as arranged in memo Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Ms7/P15.3.38. As this particular issue appears to have been overlooked we have arranged with the Stores Inspection Dept. to stamp the letter "I" following the letters already stamped by the makers on the flange of the carburetter body and we shall do likewise with the reinspected carburetters already passed to this Dept. for fitting to chassis. Our object, of course, is to avoid returning carburetters again to the makers which have already been back once for reinspection. We understand from the Stores Inspection Dept. (Mr.Mosby) that so far none of these reinspected carburetters have been issued to the Works (Erecting Bay) for fitting to Production engines. Please acquaint the Zenith Co. of this stamping by us of the letter "I" above referred to and ask them to take similar action on any future carburetters which we return to them for the purpose of being reinspected.
