DELCO DISTRIBUTOR ON WRAITH.

Referring to the wear on the distributor spindle, it appears certain from examination of the worn piece that this is due to the spherical collar on the oil retainer DW.711 being too close a fit. This causes the sleeve carrying the spring drive EW.1817 to obtain freedom in one direction by levering off this spherical collar to expand the driving springs, so forcing the distributor spindle against its bush. This is borne out by the wear on the spindle being only in this direction and non-existent at right angles to it.

The spherical collar was only intended as an approximate location to prevent the driving sleeve getting too far out of place. We suggest that the present clearance of .001 to .003 should be increased to .010 to .013 by reducing the diameter of the spherical collar.
