Specification for 21-G-IV. Will you please carry out the following modifications to this car, in preparation for a 15,000 miles test :- (1) B-15 large bore unit, complete with 11" Borg and Beck clutch. We are not sure whether the exhaust valves asked for in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}17/KW.23.9.35. were fitted to this unit, but we are particularly anxious to run stellited silchrome valves and should be glad if you would see that these are fitted without fail before the car goes away. Production have been trying some 45° angle gears and want us to run a set on this car. This we have agreed to do, and should be glad if you would hand the unit over to them to fit these gears before putting in the chassis (2) Gearbox. 8° synchromesh cones in the gearbox, second speed sliding piece to N.Sch.4677, ball bearing at the rear of the 3rd motion shaft, Hoffmann 41/469.G. 8. 35/64 balls. (3) Axle. 9/41 hypoid axle gears, including taper modification to N.Sch.4651. (4) Brake Linings - S.5805. (5) The propellor shaft damper should be removed. (6) Exhaust System. This requires some modification to suit large bore engine, and will be instructed by Whyman. (7) Low rating road springs, to be supplied by Leslie.
