R.R. 199 (250T) (SD676 19-7-17) MP 180865 COPY. DERBY. BOMBAY. WGS/A8.4.22. With reference to shutters for ventilation on postwar cars, I have had a very good opportunity of testing the merits of the shutters as now fitted to the postwar bonnets. Recent Reliability Trials were held between Bombay - Poona including a hill climb up the Ghauts, the Ghauts in question being a climb of 4 miles average gradient 1-7 with 40 odd hair-pin corners. I tested a Landaulette car up the hill, first test with two shutters open, viz., the two rear ones, and the water boiled badly. The second run I opened all shutters, the water temperature was about 95º on at completion of the climb. The above data I think is conclusive that ventilation is required to the same extent as now given for cars in use in India. These trials were taken in the middle of the day, temperature in the shade 90º approximately, two thirds of the run second speed was used. WG.{Mr Gill - Financial Director} | ||
