X1033 Extpl.Dept. Ha/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}10/KW. 18th December, 1935. The Zenith Carburetter Co.Ltd., 40-44, Newman Street, London, W.1. For the attention of Mr. Fisher. Dear Sirs, First to thank you for the very seasonable greetings, this was a pleasant surprise. I 'phoned you at Zenith this morning, but you were absent; so I will give you the points in order which we wanted to discuss. (1) A DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}42 (auto.) carburetter has arrived here, which we have not ordered. I assume this to be a mistake for the DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} (hand controlled choke) which Mr. Elliot is urgently requiring. (2) We find that when the DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} floods, petrol leaks badly from the accelerator pump spindle (gland in base of floatchamber). This is a very important point, as our requirements are definitely that when we fit a drain pipe to the floatchamber breather, if the carb. floods the result will be completely taken care of by - (a) This drain from top of floatchamber. (b) The drain and well in the induction pipe. Otherwise the purpose of this drainage system is defeated. Mr. Robotham requires that you put in hand immediately a modification to this spindle gland, to guarantee no leakage at this point. (3) Further to the last meeting which you attended in Mr. Elliot's office. A big push is starting immediately and every effort is to be made to get the "29 HP" into production in 10 weeks.
