X 1231 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}10/KW. 3rd June, 1936. Messrs. C.C. Wakefield & Co.Ltd., Wakefield House, 30/32, Cheapside, LONDON, E.C.2. For the attention of Mr. Evans. Dear Sirs, We are sending you a sample of Hi-Press oil removed from a back axle after dynamometer test. This oil has been in the axle for only about two hours, and was subjected to a temperature slightly in excess of 150°C. Under these conditions it is not a sufficiently good lubricant for heavily loaded hypoid gears which during the test have failed. We should be glad to have your views on what has happened to the oil, and also whether you can send us an oil to try which will continue to function at high temperature. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
