Handwritten: Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} This seems rather serious Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re REAR AXLE OIL. Phantom II Chassis. ------------------- We would draw your attention to the fact that in No. VIII Instruction Book, the use of Wakefield's No. 1 Gear Ease is recommended. There appears to be more than one variety of Gear Ease, because the Owner of a Phantom II this morning brought with him a tin of Wakefield's Gear Ease which is solidified and more like vaseline. He was troubled with a noise in the rear axle which was probably due to the unsuitability of this lubricant. As a customer would doubtless use this sort of oil in good faith we suggest that a leaflet should be circulated, recommending the use of Wakefield's Hi-Press in future.
