BENTLEY CLUTCH SPRING DRIVE We have just tested two new clutch spring drives for driving and damping loads. The loads were almost exactly the same for the two units and averaged Driving load 150 lbs.ft. per degree. Damping load 46 lbs.ft. Torque to obtain one degree deflection from central position for complete assembly 196 lbs.ft. The method we employ to estimate the damping load of a complete unit is to find the maximum angular deflection either side of the centre from which it does not return, about 0.3°. Half the torque to cause this deflection is then due to the damping. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
