Material change for front suspension coil springs to achieve a cost saving.

To suit the above scheme, the following detail has been prepared :-

RG.{Mr Rowledge}2052 Spring - Front Wheels (600 lbs) 2 Off.

With reference to Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/DB{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}'s remarks on the issue memo, which propose a cheaper material than that previously used, viz:- Silico Manganese, we have been in touch with the English Steel Corporation, Ltd.

These people point out that Silico Manganese is one of the cheapest spring materials, but suggest that if the note "to be produced from spring steel wire which has been ground and polished" which is called for on our past springs is substituted by "to be produced from bright drawn spring steel wire", a saving in cost will occur.

This has been mentioned to Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/DB{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}, who is agreeable to this substitution, and we have therefore made the drawing to suit.

This completes the above scheme.
