If everyone is satisfied with 'China' then I need not worry them with my remarks, but personally, it will be remembered that this engine is now nearly 10 yrs. old and we are justified in a thorough modification when we are doing it.

I shall therefore not be contented unless the L.H. chassis includes the features which we have found so good in P.2., and known as 'Japan'.

I would like to point out that it does not affect the construction of bodies, but merely some changes under the bonnet.

My chief reason for this wish is to obtain the better cold distribution, and not be so dependent on the water temperature, and also to permit of the double carburetters which seem so likely to be adopted. Incidentally we shall see by this move of double carbur-etters etc, and the change to the 'Japan' engine, put up the HP. at all speeds somewhere about 15%.

It will be remembered that we want the hot spot directly after the throttle, and not the comparatively cold passage.

There is also the absence of firing in the exhaust which is obtained with the 'Japan' engine, and not with 'China'.
