Ha/Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/KW.25.4.34. HYDRAULIC TAPPETS. We appear to have a hydraulic tappet that is promising. In its present form and dimensions it is well worth running 10,000 miles on the next 20/25 or Bentley to get extended road experience. We consider that the results so far obtained justify consideration being given as to how the parts can be lightened and the valve gear improved, so that we can get the maximum benefit out of the development. The scheme is outstandingly cheaper to manufacture and easier to apply than the Cadillac design. It will be observed that we have departed considerably from Major Halford's original recommendations.
