X1003 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} & Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.22.11.34. When I was in America, Janeways seemed rather pleased with the improvement they had made to the Chevrolet head by putting the valves at different levels in the head. An illustration of this is given in "Automotive Industries" of January 6th 1934, page 23. We believe that since the modification involves little or no alteration to the existing push rod arrangement it is worth investigating on the drawing board to see if it is worth running on the single cylinder unit. If you can make anything of it we can probably borrow a head from General Motors so that you can see in detail what they have done.
