cars known to be driven hard should be provided with oil grooves. Unfortunately, this necessitates removing the crank shaft, which is an expensive job.

However, whenever we do have to renew the main bearings we invariably provide oil grooves on the new bearings. This has been done to several cars in Paris which have suffered from this trouble.

We also fit Hall's metal big end bearings as a matter of course and these should stand up better than the white metal bearings."

4. If K.{Mr Kilner} have just fitted new bearings to a car we do not understand why they have no oil grooves in because if the bearings had been obtained from us we should have supplied them with nothing else but the latest type.

As a matter of fact we supplied K.{Mr Kilner} with six grooved type intermediate bearings in September.
