Dear Sirs,

We have your letter of the 26th ultimo, and in regard to the results which you obtained from the test of our Number Eleven "H" Metal, we are sorry that poor adhesion seems to have been responsible for at least some of the cracking.

Since we attended your Works we have had occasion to test the effect of our Steel, which you know is .15 instead of your .25 Carbon, and we find that the adhesion with this Steel is considerably better.

With regard to the proposed test of Satco Metal, we confirm our telephone remarks to your Mr. Swindel yesterday in the absence of Mr. Rowbotham, that in our opinion such a recommendation was rather premature. We consider that the development work which is necessary for Satco Metal is not yet sufficiently advanced to warrant our recommending this alloy for your particular engine.

We have the shells here and if you still wish to have them filled we will do so, but we hope you will understand that in any case the responsibility must be entirely yours.

Moreover, there is another point which is important regarding Satco Metal, and that is that we must apply the material to the shells in these Works.

We await your further remarks before proceeding.

Yours faithfully,
THE HOYT METAL COY OF GREAT BRITAIN, LIMITED.
