FOLESHILL, COVENTRY. YOUR REF. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}3/MH.{M. Huckerby} OUR REF. GES/PBC/UT.271. Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., 30th January, 1939. D E R B Y. For the attention of Mr.Grylls. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of the 16th instant, we now enclose herewith copy of drawing CDS.1573, showing the Dunlop 4.50-16" type 72R wire wheel for your Experimental Chassis. This drawing illustrates the modified spoking arrangement made possible by the omission of balancing provision, and, if approved by you, will supersede drawing CDS.1551 sent you on the 14th January. A sample set of these wheels will be put in hand as soon as supplies of the new lengthened 72R shell are available. Meanwhile, we shall be glad to have your further assurance that the samples are to be built with the extra spokes. We particularly emphasize this point, since, if it is decided later to re-introduce the balance units, the production wheels, with the consequent fewer spokes, may conceivably be inferior in strength to the experimental test wheels. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RIM & WHEEL CO.LTD. [Signature] Technical Manager Encl: CDS.1573 | ||
