To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 10/8/33 - 2 - without the lagging has not been increased a great amount and actually on the road, it is not noticeable. It will be noticed in the quiet bye roads in London, but it is intended to make the exhaust so quiet. The soft rubbers were fitted to the snout and rear anchorages. I did not consider the rubber flexible enough for the front anchorage and fitted standard ribbon springs as used in the Phantom slipper wheel. It has been satisfactory up to the present time. We had a little trouble with the cutout chattering at first, but after setting more load in the closed position, no further trouble has arisen ( The cutout is illegal in France.) GWHancock.
