x4094. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/KT. Oct. 17th, 1932. Messrs Cam Gears Ltd, Biscot Road Works, Luton. For the attention of Mr.Siddall. Dear Sirs, We are considering trying a Bishop steering gear on one of our Phantom II cars. We are interested in the elimination of road shocks and should like to know whether your steering is good in that respect. Could you tell us how it compares with the Marles Weller type, of which we have knowledge. 'Q' We should be grateful if you could send us figures of the forward and castoring efficiency of a Bishop steering box suitable for one of our cars. The ratio of angular movement of the steering wheel to that of the drop arm should be about 13 or 14 to 1. Is any car comparable in size to our Phantom car fitted with a Bishop steering? Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
