To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/ZEV. c. to BY LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} for C.S.C. X1457 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M1.7.24. X.1457 X.4255 GOSHAWK 11, PROPELLER SHAFT JOINT. (REAR). The C.S.C. have forwarded us a report to the effect that they are still experiencing trouble due to oil being thrown out of the propeller shaft universal joint, and also at the axle joint. This oil is thrown on to the floorboards and creeps up the heelboard, with damaging results to the carpets etc. (to quote the report). We were under the impression that this difficulty had been overcome, and that the joints were now possibly oil-tight, except when overcharged. We would be glad to know if it is your experience that these joints still leak. We suggest that the cure might lie in making the floorboards and heelboards so that although oil may be thrown on their underside, it will not creep through.
