X1957 X9255 PROPELLER SHAFT JOINT. Tests have shewn that the universal joint on the propeller shaft will retain sufficient oil to keep themselves well lubricated for 1000 miles. Although the period for lubrication is 500 miles. If, however, these joints are over-oiled, they will definitely leak and we think it is impossible to avoid this. On one of our own cars we have fitted an aluminium sheet on the floorboards. It only requires quite a narrow strip. We think the most satisfactory way is to tackle the coach-work and make it so that any oil on the underside of the floor cannot get through on to the carpets.
