4462 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}3/KW. 20th June, 1934. The Earl of Rothes, The India Tyre & Rubber Co.Ltd., Mileage Dept. (Area 'B'), 80, Clapham Road, LONDON, S.W.9. Dear Rothes, Thank you for your letter of the 19th inst. I shall be very pleased to do anything I can to help you with the overhaul of your 20 HP. car. If you are only going to leave it at the Works for a fortnight it does not allow very much time for an estimate to be sent to you, returned, and the work done. Therefore if you would suggest a figure as a maximum of the amount you want to spend on the car, it would be possible to get most of the essential things done covered by this figure and go right ahead with the work. You probably already know from Cricklewood the approximate cost of having the cylinders off, looking at the pistons, etc. Actually I forget how many miles your car has done, but if it has not covered more than 30,000 and there is no audible piston knock or crankcase blow-by, there would not seem to be any justification for having the cylinder block off. I suggest that the end of September would be the best time as I shall be away from the Works in August, also they will be closed for a fortnight. | ||
