Experimental Department,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Robotham,

We have just seen the 25 h.p. Rolls-Royce which I told you I was hoping to get in exchange for my present 20 h.p. Rolls-Royce. Unfortunately, the difference in price was more than I could possibly manage. I have, therefore, decided to stick to my present 20 h.p. Rolls-Royce, which, although ancient, really goes extremely well. I want it to last as long as possible, and so I think it ought to have a thorough overhaul. I know if I send it to Messrs. Rolls-Royce they will go very thoroughly into the matter and send me a schedule of what should, in their opinion, be done to it, but possibly all of it would not be necessary, and its very hard for someone as ignorant as myself in these matters to know exactly what to have done and what not to have done. So I was wondering if you could be exceedingly kind and allow me to send the car to Derby, and leave it to you to say what should be done to it. I should be most grateful if you could do that. At the same time I know how busy you are, and that it is quite probable you could not spare the time, in which case perhaps you could put me in touch with someone at Derby with whom I could discuss it ?

I want the car really overhauled; and I know it wants a number of things doing to it besides decarbonising and regrinding valves.

I wonder when would be the best time to send it in order to get it back quickly ? I might be able to spare it in August, but the end of September would suit me best (about the 22nd) as I go for a fortnight's holiday then.

Ever so many apologies for bothering you.

Yours sincerely,

Rother-
