To Na{Mr Nadin}/Mr. Hall from EFC. X.3185.- PISTON RINGS IN SPECIAL METAL. from Messrs. Stubbs. Ltd. Herewith please receive sample of piston ring which we have received from the above mentioned firm. Will you kindly analyse this and report the result. We have also received from them a pot casting to E.9078 from which we have instructed Mr. Coverley to make piston rings of our own standard pattern. The metal composing the ring and the casting is supposed to be more elastic than that which we are at present using, and at the same time just as tough. It is expected that rings made from this metal should be more easily removed from , and replaced on the piston with out being broken. It would be interest-ing, therefore, to know if there are any non ferous metals alloyed with this iron. EFC. | ||
