X.3185 - PISTON RINGS IN SPECIAL METAL
BY MESSRS. JOSEPH STUBBS LIMITED.

In response to enquiries sent to the above Firm for piston ring pot castings E.9098, we have received from them two such castings as samples. These may be obtained on application at the Stores.

Will you please have made from these a number of our present standard piston rings and fit these to an engine for comparison with the piston rings we are making ourselves, and with those we are buying from outside contractors.

The metal from which these pistons are made is supposed to be more elastic than that which we are at present using, and at the same time just as tough. It is expected that the rings made from this metal will be more easily moved and replaced without being broken.

We shall be glad of your report as to whether this is so in due course, also Mr. Hives' report as to the suitability of these rings on the engine.

EFC.
