-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}2/KT.21.4.31.cont. first in Oct. 1930. They have not received any complaint from the Owners. PM. has verbally told Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that he does not know of any car so fitted squeaking. A report has been received from N. stating that they have received no complaints and Owners are very pleased with the change. (3) Clutch. We have obtained the information from the Test Dept. that at the present moment there are 39 chassis in stock with the old type clutch material fitted. The cost per chassis would be £.1.15.9. The total amount being £75"11"3 (4) Front Shock Dampers which affect Steering. The modification on the front shock dampers which deletes the trouble of losing oil through the bijur system on the present dampers has run 10,000 miles on 24-EX in France and was satisfactory. A standardisation sheet was issued and completed on 3.10.30. The fitting of an oil tube which sprays oil on to the lever pin, a later modification, should eliminate wear. This has been tested and a standardisation sheet has just been issued. We cannot guarantee that there will be no troubles, but the dampers should remain more consistent. The fitting of these dampers would mean taking off the bijur tube on the damper arm, alteration of the bijur pipe, lubricating the axle control ball end from the front axle scheme. (5) H.T. Wires. We find that there are two new High Tension wire tubes to come into production. The first which was experimentally tested is a plain aluminium tube. The spacing of the wires was not altered. The tube deletes the complaint of the blistering, but does not delete the burning of the wires. A heat shield is fitted with this design. We were under the impression that this tube had been stopped and was being replaced by the second tube which spaces the wires to delete the burning and does not require a heat shield, but as the first tube has been bought for the complete N. series, they will have to be used. A heat shield can be fitted to the existing chassis if there is a complaint. The second tube has been at the moment turned down on account of its expense in manufacture and W.W. are redesigning it.
