[crossed out] X 3701 X.4306 RE MONEL METAL. ----------------- With reference to R4/C231220, we have actually experimented with, and adopted as standard, the Monel metal gauze for petrol filters. The material went through the usual experimental routine, and standardisation sheets were issued and signed up in the usual way. In addition to the material itself being different from which the gauze was produced, the method of weaving the cloth was also special, representing a patented process of manufacture, which certainly seemed to give excellent results as a filter, being more robust than the usual copper gauze, and yet, by this method of manufacture being quite as good a filter, if not better, from the point of view of straining out impurities.
