11299 James Watt Engineering Laboratories, The University, Glasgow. 12 May. 38 Dear Mr Robotham I took the Alvis engine out of my car during the Xmas holidays & have spent most of my spare time on it since then but it was only last night that I got the first indicator diagram off it. The amount of work involved, particularly in fitting up the indicator, was much greater than anticipated, & I got very little assistance so progress has been painfully slow. The engine has not been behaving so well as expected & the max. H.P. to date is 64.5 @ 3800 rpm, while the M.E.P. is 119 @ 2000 and drops to nearly 100 @ 3800 rpm. (The engine has 2148c.c.) This is with the standard exhaust system, 1 5/8" O.Dia piping and a 3ft Burgess silencer. There is a bit of a roar at 3000 & over & a nearby householder complained to the night watchman about it & said he was going to get some te | ||
