BENTLEY REAR AXLE.

Reference your Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}15/R.22.1.37, by a remarkable coincidence, we are returning to you to-day under cover of our Advice Note No. SR.3796 a complete rear axle unit in which the bearing race GB.2035 has broken up.

It was arranged by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} that the first case in which it was possible for me to remove the unit complete this procedure was to be adopted, so that the assembly could be placed at your disposal for examination. For your information, the mileage of this thrust race is 10,784, fitted on the 14.2.36.

Regarding any knowledge of a customer who can repeatedly fail cages in the thrust bearings of the type that you mention, I will endeavour to trace one to-day of the local resident type, where it will be possible to keep the car under observation for your report purposes. Offhand, I do not know of one personally.

K/KC.
