W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
Derby.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

As I am sure you will be interested I am writing to advise you that we have just made a very material improvement to the anti-knock quality of our standard Shell Petrol, and that it will now be very nearly equal to the various Ethyl brands of petrol on the market in this respect.

You will no doubt gather from our publicity that the "reforming" process we are using is responsible and that the Shell which we are now marketing is a perfectly pure petrol without dope of any sort.

From my experience of the latest Phantom III, and also the Bentley, which your Company have been kind enough to lend me, I should imagine that our latest Shell is an eminently satisfactory fuel, and I shall be more than interested to hear your opinion.

As it is unlikely that our improved petrol will be in full circulation before the middle or towards the end of this month I would ask you not to draw any conclusions based on the performance of petrol which is at present in the hands of garages and dealers, although of course some of them will have been re-stocked by now. If you should be interested in making any tests in the near future and will let me know I will take steps to ensure that you will be supplied with the new product.

I had hoped to be in Derby a week or so ago when I should have taken the opportunity of telling you of this change; as I have not been able to get away I feel that the matter is perhaps of sufficient interest to you to warrant this letter.

With kind regards,

Yours sincerely,

(Signed) L.G.Callingham.
