W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

As you have been away for some time I think it quite possible that you may not have seen my letter of March 1st to you on the subject of an improvement we were making to Shell petrol, and I accordingly attach a copy of the letter in question.

Although we are now perfectly certain that our "reformed" Shell satisfies fully the requirements of practically every car on the road, and this includes the majority of the high compression engine types, we are still without any official opinion from your Company and we should very much appreciate hearing from you on the point.

We are not seeking anything for publicity purposes but would very much like to have your assurance, from the technical standpoint, that Shell is now-a-days a thoroughly suitable fuel for both your Rolls-Royce and Bentley products, and I think that this is a point which will interest you since the general availability of a perfectly straight petrol will, of course, dispel those little difficulties which you have occasionally had in the past due to the susceptibility of some sparking plugs to the effects of Tetra-Ethyl-Lead.

If it is possible to see you in Derby or, on the other hand, in London or at Brooklands, if that would suit you better, in the near future I should very much like to discuss some other developments we are making in our products so that we can ensure, as far as is possible, that they conform to standards which you would approve. Perhaps you would be kind enough to let me know when and where, after the current festive season, we could meet.

Yours sincerely,

L.G. Callit-

Manager - Technical & Research Dept.
