contd :- -8- feeds the spring shackles when the valve is opened by hand. Fig.V. is a diagrammatic view of the Wall oil Rectifier and is self-explanatory. A flow of exhaust gas is not definitely provided for; the rectifier bolts up to the rear exhaust manifold and a slot in the rectifier corresponds with a slot in the exhaust manifold. The filter is made of a coarse sackinglike material, made concertina shape by the use of wire rings. The engine sump contains three gallons of oil; is provided with transverse vertical splash plates to prevent oil surging, and also a sheet metal cover extending the whole length of the bottom half. A cylindrical shaped filter is used in the sump. The oil pump is the usual gear type of pump. An oil relief valve, easily adjustable, is fitted to the crankcase oil gallery; the surplus oil being delivered back to the sump. Numerous fins are cast in one with the sump to assist oil cooling. INDUCTION SYSTEM. A Duplex Zenith vertical carburetter is fitted; a diagrammatic sketch of the carb. is attached. An air cleaner is fitted to the carb., this consists of a sheet of fine wire gauze and a sheet of corrugated wire gauze wound cylindrically and bolted up to the carburetter air intakes.
