Over-riders of Bumper Bars
Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.10/JH.11.4.38.

-------

The over-rider was developed as a result of several interviews we had with Mr. Ridlington when we explained our desire for an over-rider differing from those already to be seen on many American cars and when we suggested a shape reminiscent of the straight lines of the R.R. radiator.

Following these conversations Mr. Ridlington brought here samples of over-riders and we selected and decided to adopt the one which has since been fitted.

That it owes its shape to our talks with him he would not, we think, dispute, but we cannot prove having submitted a sketch of it.

However, we have been such good friends to Ridlington in the past that we do not think he would raise serious objection to production elsewhere of such over-riders for you.

If you so wish we shall be glad to have a preliminary talk to him about the matter.

By the way, the writer is coming to the works on Thursday the 28th instant when he would like to have a talk to you about bumper prices. The chances are we shall want back bumpers for a batch of 75 Saloons we are about to order for current Bentley chassis and we do not want to pay any more than we can help for them.

In addition, a little later on we shall be wanting back bumpers for a batch of bodies for Wide Frame 25/30 chassis.
