All letters must be addressed to the Company, not to individuals Dear Mr. Hives, Thank you for your letter of the 16th inst. and for trying out my 3½ litre Bentley car. As I told you on the 'phone to-day, I am very pleased with the performance and with the chassis as a whole, and I must congratulate you on turning out such an attractive car. I find the top of the gear lever does still catch my leg, and I should be glad if you would let me know whether it is possible to lengthen this by 1½" to 2". The lever would then act as a stiffening rest for the side of the leg, and would make the driving much more comfortable. I would also suggest you fit a roller on the accelerator pedal, as the present plate does not slide easily on the foot, and is inclined to make the opening of the accelerator jerky. As I told you on the 'phone, there are a lot of defects with the body, which I think is due to rushing it through, although I gave them plenty of time. When I can spare the car I am sending it up to London to have these rectified, together with a detailed list of the various complaints - of which I will send you a copy as promised. In regard to Mr. Parsons, we already have an agent fixed up for the countries you mention, but if we can help this man in any way we certainly will do so, and I am very much obliged to you for your recommendation. Yours sincerely, Bernard Hopps. | ||
