RECEIVED MAY 12 Seen Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X 4383 [crossed out] X 4331 [crossed out] GOSHAWK II. DYNAMO. We send herewith drawing No. Lec 1572 shewing slight modifications for the purpose of providing a means of securing the field connections and preventing them interfering with the withdrawal of the brushes. The necessary modifications also for a narrower control brush have been shewn. This brush has been made more than half the thickness of the main brushes so as to have sufficient substance for making a good pigtail connection. We think this does not matter as the brush is still narrower than the width of the commutator bar even when the latter has been reduced due to wear and returning of the commutator. We agree that it may interfere with the existing point of commutation but we should be glad if Mr. Clarke would confirm that the dimension of the control brush as shewn on Lec 1572, is suitable.
