X4429 "Goshawk 11" - Laminated Road Springs. Mine Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 2/NJ8.11.21. I regret to have to announce that Thos. Firth & Sons Ltd. were not able to test the first three hardening dies for 30", 31" and 32" radii respectively on Friday last, 11th inst. as they expected. Owing to an error on the part of a draughtsman, the hardening dies referred to have had to be re-machined. The work is being pressed on with all speed and Firths hope to make a trial either today or tomorrow. Firths are very much disturbed at their inability to keep the definite undertaking they gave to us and they have given us their assurance that they will do all they can to make up for lost time.
