By G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} WST X6051b. See me Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}15/T7.6.32. Speedometer on 20/25HP Chassis - 'U' Series. We find on test that the 810 r.p.m. speedometers for this series are being delivered to us from the makers with too great an error on the fast side. Several of them are as much as 8% fast. We have hitherto worked to a maximum error in this direction of 4%. We do not consider that this margin should be exceeded, particularly in view of the fact that the 810 speedometer is already several per cent fast - it should be about 830 turns per mile. I take it that there is no alteration in our policy with regard to the amount of error which is permissible in the speedometer itself, and I am therefore returning speedometers to the makers which exceed the 4% margin. | ||
