For the attention of Mr. West. Dear Sirs, We beg to state that we have passed over to our representative, Mr. Manwaring, a sample Group Type speedometer, which is made up with a set of total mileage counters, whereby we can do away with the present type Veeder meter. We ran this instrument for over 10000 miles and we found that it functions very satisfactorily. The type of roller used, you will note, is exactly the same as we always use for the trip, so that there is nothing really new in that part. The drive is taken down through the centre, in order to couple up with the unit disc. One disc, you will notice, is blanked out and does not show through the dial. We have to use this in order to get the correct ratio. We should be grateful if you would test this instrument and inspect and, then, express your agreement for us to go over to this type of total mileage recorder as soon as we have run through our commitments of Veeder meters. Thanking you in anticipation, and awaiting your further comments. Yours faithfully, For THE A.T. SPEEDOMETER CO. LTD. [Signature of H.R. Buckland] Director.
