WRAITH & B.III TIMING GEARS.

It is evident from the appearance of the camshaft gear of unit B.III No.5 after endurance running that the camshaft is bending under load so that the gears are out of line. This is probably aggravated by the cast iron camshaft.

We wish to obtain records of this deflection under running conditions and for this purpose require the simple apparatus shown on the attached sketch. We have explained the apparatus to HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/R.Bellamy.

Will you please detail the parts and make one set. It will be necessary for the pointer on the camshaft to run dead true and so far as we can see the best way of attaining this will be to trim it with a portable grinder when attached to the engine.
