X.3988 COPY FOR EFC. OY8.R.6.11.28. June 11th, 1928. Mr. R.W.H. Bailey, Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby, England. RE GENERATOR Dear Mr. Bailey: I believe Mr. Nadin spoke to you last February about our use of .017 laminations in the armature (with two of the old 16s gauge stamping each end for stiffness.) At that time we had found a 20° C drop in temperature within the generator through use of the thinner laminations. Further test confirms that this is about right. When generators are running on the bench it is possible to distinguish those with the thin laminations from the others just by feeling the outside of the casing. We recommend this as a desirable change. Very truly yours, (Sgd) Maurice Olley. r/ [STAMP: RECEIVED JUN 1928] | ||
