re Bentley Timing Gears.

On the 22nd ultimo. we sent you drawings dealing with all the gears and drives suitable for using a fabroil camshaft wheel. We have now designed an alternative scheme for quietening the camshaft drive.

This consists of a six pointed balancing cam mounted on the camshaft wheel, the pressure being applied by three radial tappet rollers and springs.

We send you herewith LeC.3543 showing the mechanism, and LeC.3563 showing the cam and lift curves. All the gears in the train are in metal as standard.

We are now working on yet another scheme in which we use a brake. The frictional damping decreases with the rise in speed.
