To R.H.C. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KT.17.7.33. TIMING GEARS. The following is a confirmation of the programme discussed verbally with you. (1) Blue Car. This will have the temporary fabroil gear which you have made to the present standard tooth size, in order to test out the durability of the material. (2) E.1. Unit removed from the green car. This will have the cam pinion with the damped spring driven centre fitted, as instructed in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}7/KT.23.6.33. attached. The suggestion is that this unit should be handed over to the production people with this cam wheel solid, and they should be asked to produce a set of timing gears which would pass their ordinary standard, utilising this cam wheel locked solid. We can then eliminate such rattles which may develop by means of the damped spring drive in the cam wheel. (3) E.5 Unit which you are producing will be fitted with various coarse pitch fabroil schemes which have been instructed. (4) When we have completed the tests on E.1 unit with the spring damped cam wheel, we should like to follow on with cam schemes to LeC.3543. LeC.3563., which we understand will be able to be fitted to this unit without much difficulty. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
