My dear Mr. Webb,

Thank you for your letter of October 13th.
I am to blame for not replying sooner.

We think that your filter compares favour-
ably with the A.C. type, but so far tests have not established that its life is very much greater than the A.C. type. It means a great deal of running to average out results. We think it would have to show a marked superiority in this re-
spect to justify its bulk.

The volume of Sales in England will not be affected by this issue, however, but by the question of price. If it can be sold to the manufacturer at a lower figure than the A.C., and also the retailer make more profit on it, then you might sell 2,000 a week, which is a small quantity in America, but a nice volume here.

Obviously it would need a good deal of salesmanship to put it over against A.C. who are very well represented and an active organisation.

There is no doubt that over here manufacturers are beginning to appreciate the merits of the by-pass filter, and a great many cars are being so equipped at the present moment.

I have a friend in the general engineering business who would like to have a go at manufacturing and selling this filter, but in your own interests it would be more satisfactory if you could get somebody who already has a wide connection with the automobile trade.
