Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}15/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 27th November, 1936.

Messrs. Ransome & Marles Bearing Co.,Ltd.,
NEWARK on TRENT.

For the attention of F.O. Hickling, Esq.

Dear Sirs,

Further to our 'phone conversations, I am sending for a drawing of the rear gearbox support so that you can see what room there is. Please do not make more alterations than necessary.

There is one point I had not told you. Even if we tighten up the end coupling on the inner of the bearing we know it will soon be loose owing to the pumping forces of the propeller shaft. We usually start with .003 end clearance.

Yours faithfully,

For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
