(1) Ph.II valves being larger than Ph.III must expand more than .005 to .006.

(2) If we say that Ph.III has to have an initial setting of .003 to allow for this, Ph.II initial setting must have been rightly .006.

(3) Actually Ph.II setting is .004 exhaust so our Ph.III cold setting can be .001, which will give us .004 as a final running clearance, and only under extreme conditions will the exhaust valves ride.

(4) If we had push rods with slightly less expansion coefficient we could employ a slightly wider cold setting which would be advantageous. Can we get such push rods. Why is not their ex. the same as the block.
